With Windows 7, there are much easier and faster ways to rename multiple files in a sole sweep. The first way is to click on a file’s name and rename it as typical, then press the “Tab” key to access the next file in the list.
One other way is to choose multiple files (press the Ctrl key or Change key and choose the desired files), then click on the first data file and choose “Rename” to offer it a new name. All of those other files will be renamed with the same name. For example, if you name the first file “image”, it will become “image (1)” adopted by “image (2)” etc.
